Greenfield Honored as AMCC Player of the Year

Pittsburgh, PA - Mount Aloysius senior guard Shawn Greenfield was named the AMCC Player of the Year on Tuesday morning, following an outstanding season that saw Greenfield rank as one of the top scorers across NCAA Division III.

On the season, Greenfield broke the conference record for points per game at 26.0 and moved up to fourth in NCAA Division III in scoring average. In addition, Greenfield set a new program record for points per game in a single season. At the conclusion of the AMCC regular season, Greenfield also ranked fourth in three-point percentage (44.6).

Last week, Greenfield was named to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week for his outstanding performances in conference victories over Franciscan and D'Youville. He was the first Mount Aloysius men's basketball player to be given this national honor.

During the season, Greenfield was named AMCC Player of the Week on two occasions, January 7th and February 24th. His scoring prowess included two 40-point games against Penn State Altoona and Medaille in the month of January.

In addition to his 26 points per game, Greenfield added 4.3 rebounds per game, 2.8 assists per game and 1.54 steals per game for the Mounties.

Penn St. Altoona freshman forward Evan Greening was named Newcomer of the Year.  Defensive Player of the Year honors were shared by D'Youville College junior center Julian Reed and Penn St. Behrend. Behrend head coach David Niland earned Coach of the Year honors after guiding the Lions to the second consecutive AMCC title.
